Covid-19 deaths rise, cases fall in 24hrs

Bangladesh has reported another 22 deaths from coronavirus (Covid-19) in the past 24 hours, taking the tally of death from the pandemic to 12,480.

Besides, another 1,292  people were diagnosed with the virus during the period, bringing the overall caseload to 794,985.

It was said in a press release signed by Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (May 27, 2021).

It said 8.12 percent of the 15,915 samples collected in 24 hours were positive. Among the dead in last 24 hours, 14 were male and 8 were female.

The recovery counts rose to 7,35,157 as another 1,291 people were recovered from the diseases.

The mortality rate stands at 1.57 percent while the rate of recuperation stands at 92.47 percent. 

Earlier, 17 deaths and 1,497 cases were reported related to the disease yesterday.

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
