Covid-19 deaths, infections rise in country in 24hrs

Bangladesh has reported 32 more Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll from the pandemic to 12,181, according to the official figures.
Besides, 698 Covid-19 cases were confirmed during the period. With this, the overall caseload has surged to 7,80,857.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) informed this in a press release on Monday (May 17, 2021).
It said 6.75 percent of the 10,347 samples collected in 24 hours were positive.
The recovery count rose to 723,094 after another 1058 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past 24 hours.
The mortality rate stands at 1.56 percent while the rate of recuperation stands at 92.6 percent.
Earlier, 22 deaths and 363 cases were reported related to the disease yesterday.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
