Covid-19 claims 54 more lives, infects 3883 people

Bangladesh reported 54 more deaths from COVID-19 and 3,883 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.

With the latest, the death toll from the pandemic rose to 13,399. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 8,44,970 as 3,883 new cases were confirmed during the period.

The daily database on Covid-19 reported this in a press release signed by Professor Dr. Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday (June 18, 2021).

About 20,882 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 18.59 percent.

The recovery count rose to  7,78,421 after another 1,955 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day. The recovery count stands at 92.12 percent while the mortality rate stands at 1.59 percent.

Earlier on Thursday, 63 deaths linked to COVID-19, and 3,840 fresh cases were reported. 

Bangladesh recorded the highest number of COVID-19 fatalities on April 19 this year when the virus killed 112 people in a day.
