Covid-19 claims 31 more, infects 1310

Covid-19 has claimed 31 more lives in Bangladesh in the previous 24 hours, raising the tally from the pandemic to 27,470.

On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 15,53,873 as 1,310 more tested positive for the virus during the same time, the lowest in four months.

It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.

Among the 31 deceased, 17 were men and 14 women.

The current positivity rate is 4.49 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.06 percent.

A total of 29,186 samples were tested at 815 centers across the country in 24 hours.

The recovery count rose to 15,13,876 after another 1,195 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 97.43 percent recovered, while 1.77 percent died.

The highest single-day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10).

Bangladesh reported the first Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
