Covid-19 claims 218 more lives, 9369 infected in 24hrs

Bangladesh has reported another 218 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 20,685. On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 12,49,884 as 9,369 more tested positive for the virus during the same time.

It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

The highest 67 deaths were reported in Dhaka division while 55 died in Chattogram division in the preceding 24 hours. Among the dead, 134 were male and 84 were female.

DGHS said 30.24 percent of the 30,980 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive.

The recovery count rose to 10,78,212 after another 14,017 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 86.29 percent recovered, while 1.66 percent died.

On Thursday (July 29), 212 Covid-19 deaths and 13,862 cases were reported.

The first Covid-19 cases were reported in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 and first deaths from the virus on March 18.

Earlier, daily highest 258 Covid-19 deaths and 14,925 cases were reported on Tuesday (July 27).
