Covid-19 claims 139 more lives, 4804 infected

Bangladesh has reported 120 more deaths from Covid-19 in the preceding 24 hours, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 25,282. On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 14,61,998 as 4,804 more tested positive for the virus during the same time.

It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

Dhaka division alone saw 38 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours while Chattogram division reported 31 deaths during the same time. Among the deceased in the past 24 hours, male patients are 72 and female patients are 67.

DGHS said 15.16 percent of the 31,689 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive.

The recovery count rose to 13,63,874 after another 8,453 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning 1.73 percent died.

Earlier, The highest single-day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10). On August 5, same number of people died of the virus.

The first Covid-19 cases were reported in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020, and first deaths from the virus on March 18.
