Covid-19: Lowest deaths in 8 months in country

Eight people have died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 7,950 in the country. This is the lowest number of deaths from the pandemic in eight months.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release on Wednesday. 

According to the release, the tally of infections has surged to 5,29,687 as 656 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours. While the recovery count rose to 4,74,472 after another 617 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period. 

A total of 15,410 samples were tested at 199 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. 

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases. 

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 218 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
