Covid-19: Deaths fall, cases rise in 24hrs

Bangladesh has reported 31 more Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll from the pandemic to 12,076, according to the official figures.

Besides, 1,290 Covid-19 cases were confirmed during the period. With this, the overall caseload has surged to 7,78,687.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) informed this in a press release on Thursday (May 13, 2021).

It said 9.58 percent of the 13,471 samples collected in 24 hours were positive.

The recovery count rose to 719,619 after another 1,370 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past 24 hours. “The mortality rate stands at 1.55 percent.”

Earlier, 40 deaths and 1,140 cases were reported related to the disease yesterday.

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
