Covid-19: Deaths fall, cases rise in 24 hours

Fifteen more people have died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 7,981 in the country. Sixteen people died yesterday.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release on Friday. 

According to the release, the tally of infections has surged to 5,30,890 as 619 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours. While the recovery count rose to 4,75,561 after another 487 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases. 

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 218 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
