Covid-19: Deaths, cases fall in 24hrs

Bangladesh has reported 26 more Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll from the pandemic to 12,102, according to the official figures.

Besides, 848 Covid-19 cases were confirmed during the period. With this, the overall caseload has surged to 7,79,535.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) informed this in a press release on Friday (May 14, 2021).

It said 10.82 percent of the 7,835 samples collected in 24 hours were positive. 

The recovery count rose to 720,471 after another 852 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past 24 hours. The mortality rate stands at 1.55 percent while the rate of cured stands at 92.42 percent. Among the dead in 24 hours, 19 were male while 7 were female.

Earlier, 31 deaths and 1,290 cases were reported related to the disease yesterday.

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
