Covid-19: Daily cases fall below 1000 in 4 months

Bangladesh reported another 25 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the tally from the pandemic to 27,393.

On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 15,50,371 as 818 more tested positive for the virus during the same time, the lowest in four months.

The number of single-day Covid-19 cases was recorded below 1000 on May 17 last, logging 698 cases.

It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

Among the dead, 14 were male and 11 were female.

DGHS said 4.59 percent of the 17,818 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive.

The recovery count rose to 15,10,161 after another 965 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 97.41 percent recovered, while 1.77 percent died.

The highest single day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10).

The first Covid-19 cases were reported in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 while the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
