Covid-19: Bangladesh sees highest daily cases in 2 months

Bangladesh reported 81 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 13,868. Besides, the overcall caseload has surged to 8,72,935 as 6,058 fresh cases were confirmed during the period, which is the highest in two months.

It was said in a press release signed by Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana, additional director (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (June 24, 2021).

About  30,391 samples were tested in the 528 authorized laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 19.93 percent.

Among the dead in the past 24 hours, 55 were male while 26 were female. Of them, 23 died in Khulna Division, 20 in Rajshahi Division, 13 in Dhaka Division.

The recovery count rose to 7,94,783 after another 3,230  patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day. The recovery count stands at 91.05 percent.

Earlier on Tuesday, 85 deaths linked to COVID-19, and 5,727 fresh cases were reported. Bangladesh reported the first Covid0-19 cases on March 8 and the first deaths on March 18, 2020.
