Covid-19: Bangladesh sees decline in daily deaths, 2697 cases

Bangladesh has reported 83 more Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, climbing the death toll to 10,952, according to the official figures.
Besides, 2,697 Covid-19 cases were confirmed during the period. With the latest, the tally of infections has surged to 7,42,400.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) informed this in a press release on Saturday (April 24, 2021).
A total of 20,571 samples were tested at 335 authorized laboratories across the country during the time, the press release added. “The virus detection rate was 13.11 percent in the past 24 hours.”
In the past 24 hours, another 5,477 people were discharged from the hospital, raising the total number of cured patients to 6,53,151.
During the week-long period, the Covid-19 deaths were increased 7.56 percent and the detection rate decreased 25.24 percent, it added.
Earlier, 88 deaths and 3,629 cases were reported related to the disease yesterday.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
