Covid-19: 85 deaths, 5727 fresh cases reported in 24hrs

Bangladesh reported 85 more Covid-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll from the pandemic to 13,787.  Besides, the overcall caseload has surged to 8,66,877 as 5,727 fresh cases were confirmed during the period.

It was said in a press release signed by Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana, additional director (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday (June 23, 2021).

About  28,256 samples were tested in the 528 authorized laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 20.27 percent.

Among the dead in the past 24 hours, 55 were male while 30 were female.

The recovery count rose to 791,553 after another 3,168 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day. The recovery count stands at 91.31 percent.

Earlier on Tuesday, 76 deaths linked to COVID-19, and 4,846 fresh cases were reported. Bangladesh reported the first Covid0-19 cases on March 8 and the first deaths on March 18, 2020.
