Covid-19: 27 die, 835 fresh cases reported in 24hrs

As many as 27 people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, surging the death toll from the pandemic to 7626 in the country.
Besides, the tally of infections has increased to 5,16,019 as the country recorded fresh 835 cases in a day.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Sunday (January 3, 2021).
A total of 10,925 samples were tested at 180 authorized laboratories across the country during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, 551,875 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 8,296 died from the pandemic in the last 24 hours. The United States has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic and infections during the period.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 218 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
As of this afternoon, a total of 85,031,519 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,844,792 while 60,162,137 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
