Bangladesh has reported another 246 deaths from Covid-19 in the preceding 24 hours, raising the death toll to 21,638. On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 13,09,910 as 13,817 more tested positive for the virus during the same time.
It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.
The highest 93 deaths were reported in Dhaka division while 68 died in Chattogram division in the preceding 24 hours. Among the dead, 125 were male and 116 were female.
DGHS said 27.91 percent of the 49,514 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive.
The recovery count rose to 11,41,157 after another 16,112 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.
The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 87.12 percent recovered, while 1.65 percent died.
Earlier, 235 Covid-19 deaths and 15,776 cases were reported on Tuesday (August 3).
Bangladesh saw daily highest 258 Covid-19 deaths and 14,925 cases on Tuesday (July 27).
The first Covid-19 cases were reported in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 and first deaths from the virus on March 18.
