Covid-19 has claimed 24 more lives in the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the tally from the pandemic to 27,555.

On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 15,57,347 as 589 more tested positive for the virus during the same time.

It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

Among the 24 deceased, 15 were men and 9 were women. 

The current positivity rate is 3.41 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.96 percent.

A total of 17, 283 samples were tested at 815 centers across the country in 24 hours.

The recovery count rose to 15,17,642 after another 741 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time. 

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 97.45 percent recovered, while 1.77 percent died.

The highest single-day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10).

Bangladesh reported the first Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
