Covid-19: 16 dead, 697 infected in 24 hours

Bangladesh has reported 697 new cases in the past 24 hours, taking the tally of infected to 5,28,329, in the country. Besides, as many as 16 more COVID-19 patients died during the past 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 7922 in the country. 

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release on Monday. 

According to the release, the recovery count rose to 4,73,173 after another 736 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period. 

A total of 12,707 samples were tested at 199 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. 

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
