Covid-19: 10 die in 24hrs, daily lowest cases in 1.5yrs

Bangladesh reported 10 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the tally from the pandemic to 27,807.

The overall caseload, on the other hand, stood at 15,66,907 as 243 more tested positive for the virus in the preceding 24 hours – the lowest cases recorded within one and a half years.

It was said in a routine daily statement signed by Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (October 21, 2021).

Meanwhile, 534 patients recovered from the viral disease in a span of 24 hours, bringing the total recovery patients to 15,30,083.

Chattogram division counted four fatalities – the most among the eight divisions, while Dhaka has registered the highest number of infections with 163.  

As many as 16,088 samples were tested across the country, yielding a virus positivity among 243 people with a detection rate of 1.51 percent.

The latest figure showed the recovery rate at 97.65 percent while the mortality rate at 1.77 percent.

Earlier, six Covid-19 deaths and 362 new cases were reported yesterday.

The highest single-day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10).

Bangladesh reported the first Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
