Court ordered Chisty to sent prison

The court here today has ordered Md Mahabubul Haque Chisty, former chairman of the of Farmers Bank Audit Committee, sent to prison in a case filed by ACC over fund embezzlement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Delwar Hossain rejected the bail on Thursday and ordered the jail authorities to send him to jail.

Earlier, on Thursday, ACC Deputy Director M Shamsul Alam appeared before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate`s Court and requested a twofold of seven-day remand. The ACC official said the application for detention is pending until the investigation is completed.

Prosecutor Mahfuz Mia pleaded for bail (Mahbubul Haq Chisti). On the other hand, ACC lawyer Mohammad Abul Hossain oppose bail. After hearing the two sides, the court ordered the jail authorities to send the accused to jail.

Earlier, on April 19, the other accused in the jail are - Rashedul Haque Chisty, son of former chairman of Farmers Bank Mahbubul Haque Chisty, First President Muhammad Masudur Rahman Khan and Senior Vice President Zia Uddin Ahmed.

The other accused in the case are Mahbubul Haque Chisti`s wife Roshi Chishty and former Manager of Gulshan Corporate branch of Farmers Bank and current Senior Executive Vice President Delwar Hossain.
