The country would be divided into red, green, and yellow zones as per the coronavirus infection and death rate, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Monday after a coordination meeting on the virus prevention at the Secretariat in the capital, saying, “Steps will be taken as per the advice of experts.”
Coronavirus is most prevalent in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur and Chattogram, he said, adding that most districts and upazilas in Bangladesh are still in good condition. “We want to keep it good.”
On Saturday, our expert team met Prime Minister, there a detailed discussion was held on this issue. The advice given by the Prime Minister has also been discussed in detail, said Zahid Maleque.
Now a plan will be made, the Health Minister said, adding that it has been discussed here in principle. “We will now come up with a precise plan. Then the mayor, health, home and local government ministries – all will try to implement.”
Asked how the zone would be done, he said, “That’s our plan so far. Now experts know how they will implement about zoning.”
Asked if there was any decision on area-based lockdown, the Health Minister said everything would be done through the zone. “Where there will be more infections it will be kept off for a few days. But we will follow the advice of the experts,” he added.
