37 fatalities, 1666 new cases in 24hrs

37 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5,044 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 352,287 as 1666 new cases were confirmed during the period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided the information issuing a press release on Wednesday.
According to the release, a total of 14,150 samples were tested at 93 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 262,953 after another 2163 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Wednesday afternoon, a total of 31,816,647 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 976,021 while 23,420,714 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
