Coronavirus: 33 die in country in a day, 2654 new infected

33 more COVID-19 patients have died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 3,267 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 2,46,674 as 2,654 new cases were confirmed during the period.
DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Dr. Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) online on Wednesday.
A total of 11,160 samples have been tested at 83 authorized coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. So far, 12,12,416 samples have been tested, she said.
Meanwhile, 1,890 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 1,41,750, the health official said.
The first coronavirus death case was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Tuesday afternoon, a total of 18,721,947 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 704,670 while 11,936,545 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
