Coronavirus test is beginning at Sher-E Bangla Medical College (SBMC) in Barishal tomorrow on Saturday. The full sewing work is underway to set up a Coronavirus Test Polymer Chain Reaction (PCR) machine in a cell of the Department of Microbiology of the institute.

If all goes well, the Coronavirus Detection Test will start from Saturday, said Dr. Md. Bakir Hossain, Director of the Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Meanwhile, a virologist and two specially trained technicians are needed for coronavirus examination, but there is no such skilled manpower at Sher-E Bangla Medical College Hospital.

However, the director of the hospital Dr. Md. Bakir Hossain said that the teachers and technicians working in the virology department will start the coronavirus test initially. Even then specially trained virologists and two technicians are needed. An application has been made to the ministry for skilled manpower. He expects to get manpower on demand by next Saturday.

The director of the hospital said a technical team had arrived in Barishal to set up a lab with PCR machines. They are continuing to set up labs at a fast pace. The lab set up with the machine will be finished by Friday, and if all goes well, the SBMC authorities are optimistic about starting the Coronavirus test in Barishal from Saturday.
