Police are getting the power to collect, impose fines if ignoring the mandatory wearing of masks to tackle the pandemic Covid-19.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque told reporters at the Secretariat in the capital on Tuesday.
The Health Minister said “everyone should wear a mask”, it is very important to maintain physical distance. It needs to “empower the police” to enforce it properly – so that those who do not wear masks can be fined. This will require an ordinance. “There were discussions, we will make the decision quickly,” he added.
Chairman of the meeting, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said the ongoing strict ban has been extended till August 10. Shops across the country will be opened from August 11. Vehicles will run on a limited scale. The office will also open. “Movement after August 11 without vaccination will be considered as a punishment,” he also said.
He added that information on whether anyone had been vaccinated would go to the website. None can lie. We kept the opportunity for three days on 7th, 8th and 9th August before opening the shop.
We are allowing getting vaccinated during this time. No one should come to work without getting vaccinated, said Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque.
