Contract killer killed in Natore gunfight

A contract killer of Monowara Begum murder case was killed in a gunfight with police on Thursday night at a banana garden in Gurudaspur village of Gurudaspur Upazila, Natore. Two policemen were injured in the incident.

The deceased Md Hanif Bepari, son of Ruhul Bepari of Kalakanda village of the upazila. 

The injured SI Abul Kalam and Rubel Hossain was admitted to the upazila health complex. 

On Wednesday night, a team of Gurudaspur Police arrested contact killer Hanif, an accused of Monowara murder case, from Merul Badda in Dhaka, said Md Jamil Akhter, ASP (Singra Circle) of Gurudaspur Police Station. 

“According to the information provided by him, a drive was conducted on Thursday night at a banana garden in Gurudaspur village. Sensing the presence of police, the accused opened fire to the police. They later fled when the police also fired back in self-defense. Later injured Hanif ws recovered from the spot and taken to sadar hospital where doctors declared him dead.”  

A foreign pistol, a domestic pipegun and five rounds of bullets were recovered from the spot, ASP Md Jamil also said adding, “There were several cases of murder and robbery against Hanif at Gurdaspur and Barayagram police stations.” 

Elderly woman Monowara Begum was stabbed to death on January 16 morning.
