Committee formed to celebrate Bangabandhu’s centenary

The government has formed a National Committee of 102 members and 61 members of Implementation Committee to celebrate the centenary birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The committee formed under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Rehana, speaker, chief justice and opposition leader are in the committee.  

In the committee, there are ten ministers of previous terms, the current government ministers, advisors, state ministers, chief of the three forces, police inspectors, several university vice-chancellors, two former governors, representatives of different religions, and several artists and cultural activists of Awami League. 

Former Chief Secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury has been appointed the member secretary of the committee. He will be the Chief Coordinator of the implementation committee formed under the leadership of National Professor Mohammad Rafiqul Islam. 

In addition, few ministers, state ministers, secretaries and heads of government departments, teachers, architects, poets, writers, publishers, journalists, singers, actors, athletes, and cultural activists have been named as members in this committee.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on March 17, 1920, in Tungipara of Gopalganj. In 2020, the centenary of Bangabandhu will be fulfilled. And in March 2021, Bangladesh will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Independence. So, in the meantime, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared 2020 and 2021 as ‘Mujib Year’.
