Undergraduate and postgraduate colleges and universities will be opened next month, i.e., at the end of September. Classes and examinations will begin physically. However, primary and secondary school holidays are extending.
Besides, the decision to take SSC exams in November and HSC exams in mid-December has been finalized.
The information has been obtained from the sources of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, and University Grants Commission.
According to the relevant sources, vaccination of teachers-officers-employees is almost at the last stage. Students from different universities have also come under the vaccine campaign. More than 80 percent of students of Dhaka University have been vaccinated. As a result, the government has taken a positive decision to open educational institutions.
However, school-level decisions will not be made until the COVID cases drop below 5%, as a result, school holidays are extending by another phase.
When asked, Md. Aminul Islam Khan, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Division of the Ministry of Education, said the Prime Minister has given a directive in this regard at the meeting of the secretary committee. Since the higher education level teachers-officers-employees and most of the students have come under the vaccine campaign, the colleges-universities may be opened, he added.
