Cold wave may abate from some places

A mild cold wave is sweeping over the regions of Gopalgonj, Sitakunda, Cumilla, Srimangal, Badalgachhi, Tetulia, Rajarhat and Chuadanga and it may abate from some more places, Bangladesh Meteorological Department predicted on Monday. 

The Met Office also forecasted that weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today. 

Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the river basins of the country and light to moderate fog may occur at places elsewhere over the country during midnight to morning, said it in a release issued this morning.

Meanwhile, night temperature may rise slightly and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.  

The country’s minimum temperature was recorded today at 7.5 degrees Celcius at Tetulia in the Rangpur division while yesterday's maximum temperature was 27.5 degrees Celcius at Sitakunda in the Chattogram division.  

As an outlook for the next 72 hours, BMD predicted: "Night temperature may rise further."
