Coastal districts take all-out preparations

All-out preparations have been taken in coastal districts in the country to combat the rushing very severe cyclonic storm “Bulbul”. It is likely to hit the country’s southwest region on Saturday evening.  

Five coastal districts came under danger signal. People of the regions advised taking shelters in cyclone centres. District administration has taken all preparations to tackle the aftermaths of the storm.  

In Chattogram, the district administration has already taken all-out preparations to combat the cyclonic storm. All cyclone centres in the district have been prepared for the giving shelter to the affected people. Miking is being done so that people from the beach adjacent areas heading to shelters.

Tanvir Farhad Shamim, an official of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, said that the district administration directed to the Upazila Nirbahi Officers of the coastal districts to prepare the shelters as a preliminary preparation for combating the cyclone Bulbul.

In addition to setting up control rooms, the activists of Chattogram City Corporation have launched a miking asking the people in the coastal areas to take shelters in cyclone centre.

Meanwhile, Cox's Bazar, Satkhira, Lakshmipur, Patuakhali, Bhola and Barisal districts have taken huge preparations to reduce loss or damage to life and property to the cyclone Bulbul that lies over the Bay of Bengal.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC)'s Bhola Ferry Ghat Incharge Md. Emran said that the ferry services on Bhola-Lakshmipur and Veduria-Lahar Hut routes have been suspended since Friday evening till further notice.
