Due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, it has been decided to shut down the educational institutions till November 14.
Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni disclosed the information in an online briefing around 12:00 pm on Thursday.
Earlier, Akram-al-Hossain, Senior Secretary at the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, said it would not be possible to reopen schools and colleges now considering the current situation. “The ongoing holiday will be further extended,” he added.
The government had earlier announced that it would not take the final exams of the fifth and eighth grades in the current epidemic situation. It has also been informed that the results of the HSC will be announced based on the results of the eighth-grade and SSC without taking the HSC examination.
It is to be noted that all types of educational institutions in the country (except Qawmi Madrasa) have holidays till October 31. There is also the possibility of a second COVID wave in the coming winter.
As a result, the government did not take any decision to reopen the educational institution. Public examinations like preliminary final, JSC-JDC and HSC have also been canceled due to the COVID outbreak in the country.
