A three-year-old child has died after falling off from his mother's lap while going to a shelter in Barguna to escape the cyclone Yaas. The incident took place at Dakshin Kalikabari village of Sarishamuri union of Barguna Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased identified as Imamul Hossain, 3, son of Swapan Mia of the village.

According to local sources, the tidal wave caused by cyclone 'Yaas' broke the embankment of Dakshin Kalikabari on the banks of Bishkhali river in the upazila and entered the village. An hour later, the locals rescued the child dead.
