`Child Speaker` Rafiqul remanded again

A Dhaka court today granted a four-day remand to child speaker Rafiqul Islam Madani in a case filed over-delivering anti-state and provocative statement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian Mohammad Noman granted the remand after a hearing on Wednesday.

The investigation officer of the case produced Rafiqul Islam before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court with seven days remand prayers, the court granted four days remand following his petition.

According to the case sources, the Students and Youth Rights Council staged a procession at Motijheel in the capital on March 25 in protest of the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh. The procession was chased by the police. On the same day, the first case was filed in connection with the clash between the Student and Youth Rights Council in Motijheel. Police arrested Rafiqul Islam Madani on the same day and released him. 

On April 13, Gachha police applied for a 7-day remand against Rafiqul Islam in Gazipur court. On that day, the court judge fixed April 15 for the remand hearing. Later, a judge of Gazipur Judicial Magistrate's Court granted him two-day remand. 

Rafiqul Islam was shown arrest on April 8 in a case filed by the RAB under the Digital Security Act for making anti-state and provocative remarks. Earlier, on April 7, RAB held Rafiqul Islam from his village home. The next day, the RAB filed a case with the Gachha police station in Gazipur.

Earlier on Tuesday, Rafiqul Islam was sent to jail after a two-day remand in a case filed by the RAB under the Digital Security Act.
