Chawkbazar fire under control

A fire that broke out at a bangles shop at Chawkbazar in the capital was brought under control on Wednesday night. The fire was brought under control by four units of the fire service at around 12:45 am.
Earlier, the fire broke out on the ground floor of a five-story building next to the Amania Hotel around 12 am.
Police and the fire service said smoke first came out of a bangle shop. It then spread to more shops in the vicinity. The cause of the fire or the extent of the damage was not immediately known.
Farhad Hossain, an officer at the central control room of the fire service, said four units of the fire service rushed to the spot immediately after being informed about the incident.
The fire spread to several shops on the ground floor of a five-story building inside a narrow lane. Later, it was possible to bring the fire under control at around 12:45 am, he added.
