Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted the charge sheet against 16 people, including madrasa principal SM Sirajuddoula and local Awami League leader Ruhul Amin, in court on Wednesday in Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder case.

Shah Alam, the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Zakir Hossain around 2:15 pm.

PBI sought the highest punishment for the accused in the case.

Earlier on Tuesday, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Banaj Kumar Majumder said that during long investigation, they found the involvement of 16 people in the arson attack on the madrasa girl that led to her death.

Of them, 12 gave confessional statements before the court. A total of 92 people have been made witnesses in the case and seven of them have already testified before the court, the PBI Chief added.

On April 6, Nusrat was set afire at an examination centre allegedly by people loyal to the principal of her madrasa after he was arrested and subsequently suspended as she had accused him of sexually harassing her in Sonagaziupazila of Feni district.

She lost her battle for life on April 10 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital.
