A Dhaka court fixed Tuesday for submitting charge sheet against actress Pori Moni in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act at Banani Police Station in the capital.

According to the charge sheet of the case, there were no valid documents to Pori Moni for the positioning of drugs.

The CID has been informed in writing by the Department of Narcotics Control that in the financial year 2019-20, a license was given to consume alcoholic beverages in the name of Pori Moni. The license expired on June 30 last year. Pori Moni had collected illegal drugs from different places through two accused Ashraful Islam and Kabir Hossain and kept them at home. She could not give a satisfactory answer about drug possession. Pori Moni used her car to carry drugs.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) had arrested Pori Moni and Ashraful Islam on 4 August when they raided her apartment in Banani in the capital city. RAB filed a case with the Gulshan police station against Pori Moni in the incident, under the Narcotics Control Act. The charges mentioned 19 bottles of foreign liquor and 4 grams of the narcotic substance 'ice' had been recovered from her apartment.

The next day, on August 5, RAB filed a case against Pori Moni and her accomplice Bipu under the Narcotics Control Act at the Banani Police Station. On the same day, the court granted remand to Pori Moni and her associates for four days.

On August 10, Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas granted police two more days to grill Pori Moni.On August 19, for the third time, Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam granted another one-day in remand for the actress.

Following the High Court's intervention, another Dhaka court finally granted her bail on September 1 and she walked out of jail the next day.

On August 29, one Ain o Salish Kendra lawyer filed a petition before the High Court seeking an order on the legality of taking Pori Moni in multiple remands in the case defying an earlier order of the Supreme Court.

On September 2, the High Court asked the two lower court judges to explain why they had accepted the police request to remand the actress multiple times in the narcotics case.

On September 15, the High Court expressed dissatisfaction over the explanations submitted by the two judges and set September 29 for the next hearing.
