Charge-framing hearing on Abrar murder Jan 30

The court on Tuesday has set January 30 to hear the chargesheet against the 25 accused in the murder case of killing Abrar Fahad, a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). 

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Judge KM Imrul Kayes has fixed the date in the morning after producing 22 accused before the court. The judge later took cognizance and fixed the date on January 30 for hearing. 

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad was beaten to death by miscreants on October 6 last year over a Facebook post. Abrar’s father filed the case. Later, law enforcement agencies arrested the accused.

Detective police (DB) submitted the chargesheet with the court accusing 25 people over the incident. 11 out of 25 took part in the killing. The remaining 14 were found involved in the incident. On November 18, the court accepted the chargesheet.  

The eight accused in the Abrar murder case have already made confessional statements in court. They are — Nazmus Sadat, Ifti Mosharraf Sakal, Meftahul Islam Jion, Anik Sarkar, Mujahidur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan Robin, Tabbakkharul Islam Tanvir and Moniruzzaman Monir. The others have confessed to the police, said Monirul Islam, the investigating officer of the case.

Those charged in the chargesheet are — Mehdi Hassan Russell, Muhtasim Fuwad, Anik Sarkar, Mehdi Hassan Robin, Ifti Mosharraf Sakal, Moniruzzaman Monir, Meftahul Islam Jion, Amit Saha, Majedul Islam, Mujahidur Rahman, Tabbakkharul Islam Tanvir, Hossen Mohammad Toha, Md Jishan, Akash Hossain, Shamim Billah, ASM Nazmus Sadat, Ehteshamul Rabbi Tanim, Md Morshed, Moaz Abu Hurayra, Muntasir Al Jemi, Mizanur Rahman, Shamsul Arefin Rafat, Ishtiak Ahmed Munna, Moshtuba Rafi, and SM Mahmud Setu.   

Jisan, Tanim, Morshed, Moshtuba Rafi are absconding till now. An arrest warrant has been issued against them.
