Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports to hoist local cautionary signal number three.

The information was disclosed in a press release of the marine forecast of the BMD on Thursday.

The well-marked low over Northwest Bay and adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal-Bangladesh coast moved westwards and now lies over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area as a low, the press release said.

As a result, the steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay. Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

The weather forecast for the inland river ports of the country said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by the temporary gusty wind at speeds of 45 to 60 kmph is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at many places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country. River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist the cautionary signal no. one.
