A man crashed his car into one of the gates of the Grand Mosque in Mecca in Saudi Arabia late on Friday, state news agency SPA reported.
Video footage captured the dramatic moment, in which it has been seen that a car was driven at high speed across the courtyard of the Grand Mosque, before finally smashing into one of the doors.
Later, Saudi security authorities arrested a man who was pulled from the car.
Sultan al-Dosari, a spokesman for the Mecca region governorate, said that at 10:30 pm local time, the security authorities in Mecca responded to an accident where a car hit one of the entrance gates of the Grand Mosque.
“The car swerved while moving at a high speed on one of the roads surrounding the southern courtyard of the Grand Mosque. Thankfully, no one was injured,” according to SPA.
“The driver was arrested. He is a Saudi national and was in an unnatural state. He was referred to the public prosecution.” - Al Arabiya, Arab News
