Election Commission (EC) has directed the concerned people that capture photos or videos inside the polling room on the polling day will be considered as a crime.

On Friday morning, the Additional Secretary of the EC, Kamrul Hasan issued the directive to presiding officers at a two-day training program at the auditorium of the election building in Agargaon.

He said, “After entering the voter in the polling booth, his identity must be ensured. If voter’s name is found on the voter list, the voter will be given ballot papers. Then, the voter will go to the secret chamber with fingerprint and cast vote for his/her favorite candidate.”

Kamrul Hassan said that no one else has access to the secret chamber of the polling station during voting. Only the voters can help the visually impaired voters to cast their votes.

He said, “Election observers cannot stay long in the center. They cannot enter the secret chamber of the polling station. Presiding officers will not be able to give the interview to the observers.”
