COVID death toll in country crosses 10,000

The death toll from the pandemic coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country has crossed 10,000. So far, the death toll from the deadly virus has climbed to 10,081. 

The first coronavirus case was detected in the country on March 8 last year. Ten days later, on March 18, the first person died of coronavirus was reported. 

Recently, the mortality rate from the virus gradually increases. Of these – a record 98 people succumbed to the disease in a single day till 8:00 am on Wednesday – which was the highest tally of deaths in a day in the country.

Meanwhile, 94 people have died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the country, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) press release on Thursday.

In the last 24 hours, 4,192 new Covid-19 cases were detected in the country. With this, the tally of infections has surged to 7,07,362. 

Besides, 19,959 sample tests were done in 24 hours. Considering the test, the detection rate was 21 percent.

The country’s public health experts say there is no alternative to adhering to hygiene rules, including wearing a mask, to control the Covid-19 infection.
