COVID-19 death toll in country rises to 3000

The death toll from the coronavirus pandemic to 3000 in the country as 35 more deaths from the virus have been reported in the last 24 hours. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 2,29,185 as 2960 new cases were confirmed during the period.
DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) online on Tuesday.
A total of 12,714 samples have been tested at 81 authorized coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 2960 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 2,29,185, she said.
Meanwhile, 1731 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 127,414, the health official said.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Tuesday afternoon, a total of 16,661,348 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 656,922 while 10,255,772 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
