COVID-19 death toll in Spain surges 10,000

After China, Italy, and Iran, now the death toll from the novel COVID-19 is rapidly increasing in Spain where more than 864 people died of the virus in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll in the country has stood to 10,003. 

According to Worldometer statistics, 110,238 people infected by the coronavirus, 10,003 dead and 26,743 people recovered until now.

Spain’s health system has fallen under extra pressure as the COVID-19 patients increasing rapidly. “This is not a key factor whether we reached the final point. It seems we are in that situation,” said Fernando Simon, chief of Health Emergency in Spain. 

“The most important issue is now to ensure the health care capability of all patients in treatment and hospital admissions.”

The country has already been locked down to tackle the coronavirus. If anyone out in the street by breaking the lockdown rules, they are arrested or fined. The road to the capital Madrid is now empty. Restaurants, shops, shopping malls are all closed.
