COVID-19 claims 5 more lives, infects 407

Five more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 8,400 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 545,831 as 407 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release on Saturday (February 27, 2021).
A total of 12,348 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours. With these, a total of 4,030,616 samples have been tested in the country so far.
At least 609 COVID-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 496,107.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, which first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 219 countries and territories around the world.
