COVID-19 cases in country cross 2.5 lakh mark, 27 die in a day

27 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 3333 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 2,52,502 as 2851 new cases were confirmed during the period.
DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) online on Friday.
A total of 12,699 samples have been tested at 84 authorized coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 2851 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 2,52,502, she said.
Meanwhile, 1940 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 1,06,963, the health official said.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Friday afternoon, a total of 19,275,538 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 717,938 while 12,372,804 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
