Coronavirus infection is on the rise in Bangladesh as well as the whole world. However, the number of deaths has decreased compared to that in the country. So far, more than 9,000 people have recovered from the virus infection.

Speaking at the regular health bulletin on coronavirus situation on Friday, the Additional Director General (administration) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana said, “A total of 9,015 people have recovered.”

“590 people recovered in the last 24 hours,” she also said.

A total of 11,301 samples have been tested in 49 coronavirus testing labs across the country including the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) over the last 24 hours. Of these, 2,523 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 42,854, she said in the health bulletin.

23 more deaths from the virus have been reported in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 582 in the country, said Dr. Nasima Sultana. “19 of them are male and 4 of them are female.”

The first coronavirus (COVID-19) death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
