Bus hit claims mother’s life, daughter injured

A woman named Rezia Khatun (60) has been killed hit by a bus while crossing the road at the bend of Matsya Bhaban in the capital. His daughter Rina Akhter (30) has been injured in the incident.
The accident happened around 5 pm on Monday. The deceased was identified as Rozia, wife of freedom fighter Rashid Khan, a resident of Nur Uddinpur village under Pabna’s Sujanagar upazila.
Abul Hasan, son of the deceased Rezia, said he works as a mosquito worker in Ward No. 12 of Dhaka South City Corporation and lives in the public works quarters. His mother came to him from the village five or six days ago for dental treatment. Sister Rina came to take her mother to Mirpur-1 residence.
He added that in the afternoon, Abul Hasan himself took his mother and sister to the bend of Matsya Bhaban to pick them up in a car. Her mother and sister were hit by a bus while crossing the road. They were immediately rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital.
DMC hospital police camp in-charge (inspector) Md. Bachchu Mia said that Rezia Begum's body was kept in the morgue. The injured Rina is being treated at the emergency department. She was injured both legs.
Shahbagh Police Station OC Mamunur Rashid said a bus hit mother and daughter as they were crossing the road in front of the Bar Council at the Matsya Bhaban bend. The mother was killed and the daughter was injured. The bus has been seized and its driver arrested.
