Brother, his sons get life term for Tarash murder

A court in Sirajganj has sentenced three people, including a brother and his two sons, to life imprisonment in the murder case of Rahmat Ali in Tarash, Sirajganj. At the same time, they were sentenced to one more year of imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of Tk 20,000.
Sirajganj District and Sessions Judge Fazle Md. Nazir Khoda announced the verdict on Tuesday afternoon. The accused were at that time.
The convicts are – 46-year-old Nurul Islam of Mahishluti Uttarpara village of Tarash upazila, his sons Md. Hasmatullah and Md. Hasan Ali.
Citing the case, the court’s PP Gazi Abdur Rahman said Nurul Islam had a long-running dispute with his brother Rahmat Ali of Uttarpara village over land. Following this, on March 4, 2016, at noon, a dispute started with Rahmat Ali over the land of Nurul Islam’s family house.
At one stage, Rahmat Ali was stabbed to death with a sharp knife and shovel by Nurul Islam, his son Hasmatullah and Hasan Ali, PP Gazi Abdur Rahma also said.
Rahmat Ali’s wife Monowara Khatun filed a case with the Tarash police station. The court on Tuesday sentenced the three to life imprisonment after the allegations were substantiated.
