It ended at Kachua bypass road after parading the main roads of the upazila headquarters.
Later, the processionists burned Golam Hossain, also former chairman of National Board of Revenue, in effigy.
Speaking on the occasion, Ratna said Golam Hossain has a connection with the upazila Awami League. “Leaders and activists of upazila AL and its associate bodies won’t accept anyone except Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir in this seat,” she said.
The ruling party handed out nomination papers to both Mohiuddin and Golam Hossain for contesting the upcoming general election from Chandpur-1 (Kachua) constituency.
Both of them also filed nomination papers to the returning officer.
