Brick from roof dies 16 days child

A 16 days old child died after fall a brick from a building’s roof when it was on aunt’s lap. It occurred in a house near the Jonaki Road adjacent to the 60-foot road in Mirpur. The baby's name was Abdullah.

The accident happened at around 10am on Friday. Mirpur Model Police Station OC Dadan Fakir confirmed the information.

He said, thus the death of the newborn is tragic. The child was only 16 days old. And the boy who dropped the brick is only three and a half years old.

Kabir Hossain, father of the deceased, said that in the morning, Abdullah's aunt Tamim Sultana took her lap and sat in the sun in the front lane. Children were playing on the roof of a four-storey building. Suddenly a brick was dropped on the face of Abdullah. He was immediately taken to Agargaon Shishu Hospital. When the condition deteriorated, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Later, the duty doctor at that time declared Abdullah dead.

Kabir Hossain lives a tin-shed house in the Jonaki Road area with wife Liazu and daughter Ayesha.
